The Summer Exhibition

Conrad Shawcross Dappled SunlightAfter a false start and perhaps the best coffee I’ve ever had (thank you Gail’s Bakery), my mother and I took off for the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy.  To be honest I was a tad disappointed. I couldn’t find much that I’d splash my cash on so I’ll concentrate on what I did like. I loved the shadows cast by Conrad Shawcross RA’s sculpture ‘The Dappled Light of the Sun’ as you entered the courtyard and we both voted ‘My Shitty Sisters’ (I love typing shitty in this context) by Stephen Chambers RA our favourite. It reminded me of Picasso etchings and it’s funny.  I’ve just had a look at the RA’s online tour of the show and I was tickled to see that Sebastian Faulks also likes ‘My Shitty Sisters’ and I think wot he thinks…
